So these things are starting to spring up everywhere. What are they? And how can you use them in your business?
Simply these are “QR” codes or “Quick Response” codes that you can use to market yourself , your product or service. QR codes are very popular in Japan and are making their way into American advertising and marketing.
The way they work is that when someone scans the QR code with a smart phone. the advertiser can either capture the users information or redirect the user to a website of their choice. The redirected page can be a mobile friendly web page or some type of capture page.
I am seeing many folks using the codes incorrectly. They are not designed to be placed on a website…they are specifically for offline marketing. Display one of these on your business cards or product brochure. Or in a print ad. Imagine the fascination when you hand your card to someone with the QR code on it. Most people will have to give it a try…especially while this new technology is still so novel.
Go ahead and get creative with these. It is predicted that by 2013 that 85% of the phones in the US will be some type of smart phone. You can even give it a try for free.
